Babies and toddlers need special nurturing if they are to develop to their fullest. Those who have an early introduction to infant aquatics will benefit in numerous ways. Research documents that the stimulating effect of child-paced swimming lessons has the potential to increase concentration, alertness, intelligence, and coordination. Within the Babies and Toddlers program safety and aquatic concepts are introduced in a fun, nurturing environment. We place huge emphasis on teaching, hesitation, and supervision. We say, “teach the children, educate the whanau, change the culture.”

Our goal is to educate adults about the need for constant supervision, teach the kids about only going in water when they have an adult with them, and hopefully see some generational change. We have a vision of zero drownings in this age group for our region. The baby program has 3 different levels, these are based on a blend of age and developmental levels as well as aquatic ability. The program is based on active movement concepts and focuses on helping develop your little one physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually, as well as developing swimming skills and water safety concepts.
